The BC Interior Bargaining Committee has completed three days of face-to-face bargaining with the Interior Forest Labour Relations Associations (IFLRA) in Kelowna.
While basing this bargaining on the recent talks with Canfor, the BC Interior Bargaining Committee intends to promote the membership’s position and continue developing an industry pattern that will address both the employer association’s issues and the USW memberships' concerns in a fair and equitable manner.
The IFLRA represents two major southern interior companies Tolko Industries Limited and Weyerhaeuser Canada Limited. United Steelworker members employed by these companies — and a number of other smaller southern interior enterprises — have been without a collective agreement since June 30, 2013.
Bargaining with the IFLRA is scheduled to continue for two days this week in Kelowna on November 12th and 13th.
