HUNT DEMANDS ANSWERS & ACTION!!

Apr 26, 2012

In April 24, 2012 letters to Minister of Labour Margaret MacDiarmid, George Moffitt, WorkSafe Chair, David Anderson, President and Chief Executive Officer of WorkSafe and Deputy Commissioner Craig Callens, Commanding Officer "E" Division of the RCMP, District 3 Director Stephen Hunt stated, "We have a duty to protect our members, their families and their communities from hazards and harm."

He brought up the length of time that had passed in regard to the explosion in Burns Lake with no indication of what had happened and no recommendations and went on to say, "We demand in the strongest terms that WorkSafe BC and the RCMP disclose their key areas of interest with respect to the blast in Burns Lake and they ensure that other sawmills are made aware of them."

In addition to urging a speedy investigation of the Prince George incident at Lakeland Mills he implored government to expedite the entire process, saying it was essentail to the well being of our members.

Hunt concluded by saying this was an urgent matter and invited the minister, the RCMP and WorkSafe representatives to contact him to discuss the issue further.
